\n\tCannes Film Festival<\/a> has announced more additions to its lineup, including Zachary Wigon\u2019s horror film \u201cVictorian Psycho\u201d starring Maika Monroe<\/a>, and Judith Godr\u00e8che\u2019s feature debut \u201cA Girl\u2019s Story\u201d for its Un Certain Regard section. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cVictorian Psycho\u201d stars scream queen Monroe as Winifred Notty, an \u201ceccentric young governess who arrives at the remote gothic manor known as Ensor House,\u201d according to the film\u2019s synopsis. \u201cAs Winifred assimilates into life at Ensor House, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners of the estate begin to wonder if there is something amiss about their new governess.\u201d The cast is rounded out by Thomasin McKenzie, Jason Isaacs, Amy De Bruhn and \u201cHamnet\u201d breakout Jacobi Jupe. The film is produced by Dan Kagan (\u201cLonglegs\u201d) under his Traffic banner as well as Sebastien Raybaud (\u201cGreenland: Migration\u201d) for Anton and Wigon, in association with Anonymous Content.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe new additions also include Diego Luna\u2019s \u201cAshes\u201d in Special Screenings. Adapted from Brenda Navarro\u2019s award-winning novel \u201cEating Ashes,\u201d the Spanish-language\u00a0drama stars Anna D\u00edaz (\u201cLet Me Be With You\u201d), Adriana Paz (\u201cEmilia P\u00e9rez\u201d), Laura G\u00f3mez (\u201cOrange Is the New Black\u201d) and Charlie Rowe (\u201cWolf Hall).\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGodr\u00e8che\u2019s \u201cA Girl\u2019s Story\u201d is based on Annie Ernaux\u2019s autobiographical novel about a girl who leaves her small village in 1958 to work at a summer camp where she is seduced by an older man.\u00a0Another novel by Ernaux, \u201cHappening,\u201d was previously adapted for the bigscreen by Audrey Diwan and won the Golden Lion at Venice. Also slotted in Un Certain Regard is \u201cTitanic Ocean,\u201d a coming-of-age story of teenage girls training to be mermaids in Japan, directed by Greek filmmaker Konstantina Kotzamani. The slate also include two animated features, Leah Nelson\u2019s \u201cTangles\u201d in Special Screenings and Olivier Clert\u2019s \u201cLucy Lost\u201d in Family Screening. <\/p>\n

\n\tAs Variety exclusively revealed<\/a> earlier on Wednesday, James Gray\u2019s \u201cPaper Tiger\u2019 has also joined the lineup and will compete for the Palme d\u2019Or. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver and Miles Teller, the gritty crime thriller follows two brothers as they try to achieve the American dream, only to become \u201centangled in a scheme that turns out to be too good to be true,\u201d according to its plot description. \u201cAs they try to navigate their way through an ever-more dangerous world of corruption and violence, they find themselves and their family brutally terrorized by the Russian \u2018Mafiya.\u2019 Their bond begins to fray, and betrayal \u2014 once utterly unthinkable \u2014 now becomes all too possible.\u201d Neon has secured North American rights for the hotly anticipated film, which is sure to be one of the buzziest on the Croisette.<\/p>\n

\n\tCannes Film Festival runs May 12 to 23.<\/p>\n
