Puka Nacua made some surprising allegations against his bite accuser, Madison Atiabi, in a new court filing the Rams star submitted on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The documents, obtained by The California Post on Wednesday, were an answer to the lawsuit that alleged he bit the woman<\/a> on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n Attorneys for Nacua wrote that Atiabi\u2019s \u201cintoxication, aggressive behavior, and\/or escalation, was a substantial factor in causing the alleged injuries\u201d she sustained when the NFL wide receiver sunk his teeth into her shoulder during a Dec. 31, 2025 night out in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n Puka Nacua submitted an answer on Tuesday to the lawsuit that alleged he bit a woman on New Year\u2019s Eve. Los Angeles Times via Getty Images<\/p>\n \u201cAny recovery must be reduced accordingly,\u201d the lawyers added.<\/p>\n Nacua\u2019s filing features a total of 18 defenses, including an additional one that further alleged Atiabi\u2019s alcohol consumption played a role in the matter.<\/p>\n Madison Atiabi wrote in her lawsuit against Puka Nacua that he bit her during a New Year\u2019s Eve night out. Superior Court of California<\/p>\n \u201cPlaintiff was under the influence of alcohol and\/or other substances,\u201d Nacua\u2019s attorneys wrote, \u201cwhich impaired judgment and contributed to the alleged incident and damages.\u201d<\/p>\n Atiabi\u2019s attorney, Joseph Kar, told The California Post on Tuesday he had \u201cno particular comments\u201d regarding Nacua\u2019s answer, though he did say, \u201cIt\u2019s untrue my client contributed.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for the California Morning Report newsletter\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCalifornia’s top news, sports and entertainment delivered to your inbox every day.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \u201cThose defenses don\u2019t apply to intentional torts or to gender violence, as we will learn during the course of litigating this case.\u201d<\/p>\n Atiabi sued Nacua on March 25 for gender violence, assault and battery, and negligence, alleging he terrorized her while they were out with mutual friends.<\/p>\n Puka Nacua has made two Pro Bowl appearances in his time with the Rams. Getty Images<\/p>\n She claimed at a dinner, he offended her by stating, \u201cF\u2014k all the Jews.\u201d She then said when they were in a sprinter van on their way to their next location, he \u201cforcibly bit\u201d her \u201cleft shoulder, leaving a circular imprint of his teeth on her body and injuring and harming\u201d her.<\/p>\n Puka Nacua was seen at the Lakers game on Tuesday night. Duarte<\/p>\n Nacua\u2019s attorney, Levi McCathern, has acknowledged his client did bite Atiabi, but he said it was the result of mutual \u201chorseplay.\u201d As for the alleged antisemitic remarks, McCathern has staunchly denied Nacua ever muttered them.<\/p>\n Nacua entered into rehab<\/a> in wake of the incident in an effort \u201cto improve his overall behavior in every aspect of his life that he can do it,\u201d according to McCathern.<\/p>\n The receiver since rejoined the Rams for their offseason workouts, which began on Monday.
