(7News) \u2014 A Virginia judge blocked the state from certifying the results of Tuesday&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/topic\/Redistricting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">congressional map referendum<\/a>, deeming the referendum and the bill that triggered it as unconstitutional, according to a judge&#8217;s order issued Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia&#8217;s current attorney general, <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/topic\/jay%20jones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jay Jones<\/a>, confirmed to 7News on Wednesday that his office would appeal the decision. <\/p>\n<p>PREVIOUS | <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/news\/local\/virginia-voters-approve-redistricting-overhaul-democrats-republicans-ballot-midterm-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Virginia voters approve redistricting overhaul<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The order, according to officials, came from the <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/topic\/tazewell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tazewell Circuit Court<\/a>, which previously blocked the referendum after repeatedly deeming the vote and the resolution for the referendum unconstitutional, siding with Republicans who filed several suits. <\/p>\n<p>Both previous attempts at blocking the referendum were struck down by the Virginia Supreme Court. <\/p>\n<p>Virginia voters on Tuesday narrowly advanced legislation to redraw the states Congressional maps, a move that could give Democrats 10  out of the 11 seats in the U.S. House.
