Ozempic and other GLP-1s are slowly becoming the new Hollywood Botox; everyone seems to be on it. A 2024 study<\/a> in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows that GLP-1 hormones in general were discovered in 1986, but it wasn’t until 2021 that Wegovy, a weekly GLP-1 injection, became FDA-approved for weight loss. In that short time, they’ve exploded in popularity, and since diets and exercise don’t work for everyone, they’ve become a more accessible way to shed those pesky pounds.<\/p>\n

To be fair, calling GLP-1s “accessible” is debatable since they can cost approximately $1000 monthly depending on brand name and dosage. But for news personalities and celebs, these costs are almost nothing compared to what most already spend on maintaining a glamorous image.<\/p>\n

One good thing about Ozempic and other GLP-1s, at least for the general populace, is that the results are pretty hard to deny. That’s obvious on news personalities like Oprah Winfrey and Joy Behar, who have sported majorly slimmed down figures after starting GLP-1s. Besides the obvious weight loss, features like the “Ozempic neck,” which doctors have pointed out<\/a>,\u00a0and “Ozempic hands”\u00a0are often a dead giveaway for identifying people who’ve used these drugs, since they’re not present in the “before” photos. Ultimately, this means there’s less room for false messaging about weight loss, which is a definite pro, especially when celebs are involved.<\/p>\n

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin is one news personality who’s been pretty open about her use of Mounjaro. In 2024, she revealed that the weekly injections had helped her get her weight under control after gaining 40 pounds during COVID. “All I did was eat… I love to cook, and I found out, I love to eat. And I was horrified about the fact that I would have to come out on air … So I also took Mounjaro,” she said on a March 2024 episode of “The View” (via X<\/a>). The injections not only helped her lose the weight but also brought her cholesterol levels down, which was a major perk.<\/p>\n

Rosie O’Donnell publicly praised Mounjaro<\/p>\n

Rosie O’Donnell might not have given any interviews about her struggles with weight, but she’s publicly praised Mounjaro for helping her lose weight across her social media platforms. After being on it for two years, she posted a photo of herself on Instagram<\/a> in May 2025 with the caption: “I cant believe this is me now #mounjaro #weightloss #bodydismorphia.” She also revealed on TikTok<\/a> that she was pairing the meds with new, healthy habits like cutting out sugary drinks and alcohol. O’Donnell added that the meds had reduced her appetite and helped her lose weight.<\/p>\n

Before using GLP-1s, Oprah Winfrey had tried a ton of ways to lose weight and keep it off. Since 1977, she’d tried the liquid diet, regular diets, calorie counting, personal trainers, and Weight Watchers, to name a few. However, nothing seemed to keep her at her desired weight long-term until GLP-1s. “The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift,” she told People<\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n

Savannah Chrisley got on GLP 1s to manage weight fluctuations<\/p>\n

Savannah Chrisley is one of those news personalities who’s pretty open about their love for GLP-1 meds. While she hasn’t given exact information on when she started getting the injections, she did spill some details in a November 2025 podcast episode. “I hadn’t been taking my shot because … when I’m on the shot, and I can’t eat, I’m like, I really love food,” she said (via YouTube<\/a>). However, she made it clear that she had plans to continue taking Tirzepatide: “I want to be skinny. Like I want people to be like, ‘Is she okay?'”<\/p>\n

After shooting “Till” in 2021, Whoopi Goldberg came to the realization that her weight needed management. “I saw me and I thought, ‘Oh! That’s a lot of me!'” she said in March 2024 on “The View” (via X). The talk show host clarified that she didn’t suffer from body image issues, but knew she had to make changes: “One of the things that’s helped me drop the weight was the Mounjaro. That’s what I used.” Goldberg is one of the celebs who seem to have “Ozempic neck” after weight loss<\/a>, but there’s no doubt that the pros are far more than the cons.<\/p>\n

Like many of the ladies on “The View,” co-host Joy Behar has also been pretty straightforward about her usage of GLP-1 medication. “I lost 25 pounds. We all did it!” she declared in an episode which aired in February 2026 (via Page Six<\/a>). She was also pretty quick to come to singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson’s defense after her comments about weight loss and Ozempic<\/a>. “Nobody wants to be fat, except a sumo wrestler,” she said in a May 2024 episode of the show (via E! News<\/a>). “It’s uncomfortable, your clothes don’t fit, everybody wants to lose weight.”<\/p>\n

Lauren Manzo believes Mounjaro saved her life<\/p>\n

When Lauren Manzo opened up about her use of GLP-1 meds to People<\/a> in 2025, she revealed how much her weight challenges had strained her mental health. “On TV at 21, people would tell me I was fat and disgusting,” she shared. When she discovered Mounjaro, it taught her to understand what “food noise” really meant. She was able to drop 50 pounds and experience life with an entirely new lens. “I really believed [Mounjaro] saved my life,” she added.<\/p>\n
