For the second time in 48 hours, authorities at\u00a0UC Berkeley are investigating a death<\/a> on campus grounds, university officials said Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The latest discovery occurred shortly after noon, when university staff found a man\u2019s body in the bushes adjacent to Sproul Hall, the campus\u2019 administrative hub. The site sits just east of Sproul Plaza, a historic center of student activity on the university\u2019s south side.<\/p>\n

The University of California Police Department said the man did not appear to be affiliated with the university. While an investigation is ongoing, police noted there were no immediate signs of foul play. The Berkeley Scanner<\/a> first reported the discovery.<\/p>\n

The Alameda County Coroner\u2019s Office has not released the man\u2019s identity, pending notification of next of kin.<\/p>\n

The discovery followed a separate incident on Tuesday night, when a 21-year-old student died after falling<\/a> from a building at the Unit 3 residence hall complex. Officers and fire department personnel responded to that scene at 7:53 p.m., but the student was pronounced dead minutes later.<\/p>\n

The coroner\u2019s office later identified the student as William Yi Lu, a junior majoring in theater and performance studies.<\/p>\n

As with the Wednesday discovery, campus police said they do not suspect foul play in Mr. Lu\u2019s death. Officials have not indicated that the two incidents are related, nor do they believe there is an ongoing threat to the campus community.<\/p>\n

In a statement, university spokesperson Adam\u00a0Ratliff extended condolences to the families involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are saddened by this tragic news,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
