\n\t\u201cMurder, She Wrote\u201d will now have distance from three big sequels, Disney\u2019s superhero adventure \u201cAvengers: Secret Wars,\u201d the Warner Bros. fantasy epic \u201cThe Lord of the Rings: Hunt for Gollum,\u201d and Lionsgate\u2019s thriller \u201cThe Housemaid\u2019s Secret\u201d \u2014 all of which are set to open on Dec. 17, the weekend before \u201cMurder\u2019s\u201d original spot on the calendar. Universal didn\u2019t give a reason for the move. <\/p>\n
\n\tCurtis is starring in \u201cMurder, She wrote\u201d as the iconic crime writer and amateur sleuth known as Jessica Fletcher, who was memorably portrayed by Angela Lansbury in the original TV series. Plot details for the upcoming movie haven\u2019t been revealed, but the show \u2014 which ran for 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996 \u2014 centered around Fletcher\u2019s knack for solving murders in the fictional, quaint town of Cabot Cove, Maine.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cPitch Perfect\u201d filmmaker Jason Moore is directing the \u201cMurder, She Wrote\u201d reboot from a screenplay by \u201cDumb Money\u201d writers Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, whose latest film \u201cProject Hail Mary\u201d became a box office hit with $577 million globally and counting, will produce the film through their first\u2011look deal with Universal Pictures.<\/p>\n
