Pillsbury; Right: \u2018Untitled\u2019 by artist unknown <\/p>\n<p>A new exhibit celebrates the golden beauty of the classic orotone photo print, giving the eye-catching but short-lived photographic printing process more time in the spotlight. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/robertmann.com\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow external noopener nofollow\">Robert Mann Gallery<\/a> in New York City is hosting an orotone-centric exhibit, \u201cGold Standards: The Art of the Orotone,\u201d until May 16, and it puts beautiful, golden prints front and center. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/IMG_7067-800x296.jpg\" alt=\"Two photos show a modern art gallery with maroon bands on white walls, displaying framed paintings arranged in a row. However, some of them are by photographer and scientific inventor Arthur Clarence \u201cA.C.\u201d Pillsbury. After the tragic and deadly 1906 San Francisco earthquake, Pillsbury left the city and set up a permanent photography studio in the new Yosemite National Park, which was established in 1890. While they are certainly best viewed in person, the Robert Mann Gallery has also shared <a href=\"https:\/\/robertmann.com\/orotones-images\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow external noopener nofollow\">images of the prints online<\/a>, most of which are presented in ornate decorative frames. <\/p>\n<p>The exhibit, \u201cGold Standards: The Art of the Orotone,\u201d runs at the Robert Mann Gallery in New York City until May 16. Location and hours are <a href=\"https:\/\/robertmann.com\/orotones-press-release\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow external noopener nofollow\">available on the gallery\u2019s website<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/petapixel.com\/2019\/05\/09\/rediscovering-the-orotone\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">PetaPixel has written before<\/a>, although orotones have long since fallen out of favor in the photographic world, photographers can still create them today.
