As Jennie herself sings, \u201cHaters, they don\u2019t really like Jennie<\/a>.\u201d The Blackpink singer (real name Jennie Kim, actress name<\/a> Jennie Ruby Jane) still faces allegations of being a \u201clazy dancer.\u201d This time, it\u2019s for her performance during Blackpink\u2019s Deadline World Tour, which kicked off last month in Seoul and is scheduled to run until January 2026. Much of the conversation centers on her energy in executing choreography, comparing her with her fellow group members, Lisa, Jisoo, and Ros\u00e9. But Jennie\u2019s fans say clips from hourslong concerts are being taken out of context to make her look bad. They\u2019re ready to defend her as several<\/a> different<\/a> theories<\/a> continue to spread online. In every version of the story, the question posed by her March single remains relevant: \u201cWho else got \u2019em obsessed like Jennie?\u201d<\/p>\n Jennie fans have been countering this criticism for years. In 2018, footage of her dancing went viral in a YouTube video titled \u201cJennie Being Lazy (NOW vs. THEN).\u201d The montage edited performances of the same songs side-by-side to highlight a stark contrast in her movements and racked up more than 2.8 million views before label YG Entertainment blocked it on copyright grounds, according to Korea JoongAng Daily<\/a>. During the Deadline tour\u2019s stops in Los Angeles in July, footage of Jennie standing onstage while her members dance went viral in support of these \u201claziness\u201d theories. Fans were quick to point out<\/a> that she appeared to be having an issue with her mic pack in the clip in question and that other idols \u2014 even Jennie\u2019s group mates<\/a> \u2014\u00a0have paused onstage before. Still, some commenters weren\u2019t satisfied, arguing that she could have done the choreography with one hand or tried to play it off more.<\/p>\n Jennie on the Deadline world tour in 2025.<\/p>\n Jennie has a long history of injuries<\/a> during her Blackpink career that date back as early as a sprain<\/a> acquired in the group\u2019s debut music-show performance in 2016. During the Born Pink World Tour in 2023, Jennie left a show early owing to her \u201cdeteriorating condition.\u201d<\/a> On that tour, she similarly faced online backlash from those who felt her performance wasn\u2019t as professional as they\u2019d wanted. She later acknowledged some of the criticism that summer in a conversation with Dua Lipa (who could empathize as someone whose dancing was once immortalized with \u201cgo girl, give us nothing<\/a>\u201c). According to Jennie, compared with her bandmates, she has long been more prone to tripping or hurting herself during performances. \u201cI realized that even though I had the training days, that was more about \u2018I need to be good at dancing\u2019 not \u2018How do I keep myself safe and healthy while I\u2019m doing this?\u2019\u201d she reflected on Lipa\u2019s At Your Service podcast<\/a> at the time. \u201cSo I feel like I\u2019ve disappointed my fans at some points of my life where it seemed like I wasn\u2019t giving my best, but I want to say that I did not know how to control my body and use my body the way I should. Since she knows both her fans and her haters are watching, some argue she\u2019s intentionally leaning into the discourse. It appears to have worked on some people. \u201cGirl, keep doing what you\u2019re doing, because the people are talking about it,\u201d Leah La Rosa\u00a0said in an August 3 TikTok<\/a> response to fan backlash over a since-deleted Billboard video in which she asked fans about Jennie\u2019s viral moments on tour.<\/p>\n In a July 29 TikTok<\/a>, The Bachelorette and Traitors star Gabby Windey referenced a viral moment<\/a> from the tour\u2019s July 26 stop in New York City in which members Jisoo, Ros\u00e9, and Lisa danced to Jisoo\u2019s solo song \u201cEarthquake\u201d while Jennie opted to do the background dancers\u2019 less athletic version. \u201cShe was just doing her choreo with the head that last time.
