LAKE COUNTY, Fla. \u2013 Days after a Lake County substitute teacher was allegedly caught acting erratically in a high school classroom<\/a>, News 6 is digging deeper into what exactly spurred the incident. <\/p>\n

In a case report, deputies said the incident happened on Monday morning at Lake Minneola High School, when a school resource deputy received a Centegix staff alert<\/a>.<\/p>\n

WHAT HAPPENED?<\/p>\n

Upon arrival to the classroom, the deputy found the sub \u2014 identified as Angela Faith Jourdan \u2014 yelling \u201cincoherently,\u201d the report shows.<\/p>\n

Investigators said they learned that before their arrival, Jourdan had been yelling, slamming her hands on a desk, making inappropriate statements to students, and \u201ctwerking\u201d in the classroom.<\/p>\n

This included telling students that she would engage in sexual activity with them and referring to herself as a \u201cmillion dollar prostitute,\u201d deputies added.<\/p>\n

\u201cAssistant Principal Pannett entered and instructed Ms. Jourdan to gather her belongings and leave the classroom,\u201d the report reads. \u201cMs. Jourdan refused, stating that she did not want to be (Tasered).\u201d<\/p>\n

Jourdan continued refusing to leave, prompting the deputy to restrain her and escort her to the front office, the report reveals.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, investigators said they spoke with a victim, who claimed that Jourdan had battered her.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the bell rang and students began exiting, [REDACTED] stated she was among the last to leave when Ms. Jourdan yelled at her, called her a derogatory name, and placed her hands on [REDACTED] head and the back of her neck before moving her hand toward [REDACTED] throat,\u201d the report continues.<\/p>\n

Now, Jourdan faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, simple battery, and two counts of disruption of a school function.<\/p>\n

WHAT WE\u2019VE LEARNED SO FAR<\/p>\n

However, the case report further reveals that Jourdan has a history of bipolar disorder, and her outburst in the classroom indicated a possible \u201cmental health episode.\u201d<\/p>\n

That said, investigators also noted that she didn\u2019t appear to have notified school staff or remove herself from the classroom prior to the incident.<\/p>\n

The district\u2019s website<\/a> shows that new hires are required to undergo drug testing and get fingerprinted, which is used to check whether an applicant has a criminal history<\/a>. These guidelines don\u2019t include a mental health evaluation.<\/p>\n

In body-camera footage obtained by News 6, Jourdan is heard claiming that she had previously been Tasered by law enforcement in Pine Hills.<\/p>\n

But no details have been released about whether Jourdan actually has a criminal history.<\/p>\n

News 6 reached out to the district on Monday for comment after the incident. The district\u2019s response is as follows:<\/p>\n

\u201cGood afternoon — We are aware of the arrest. Parents have been notified. The substitute teacher was hired 2\/4\/2025, and employment was terminated today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lake County Schools Communications Officer Sherri Owens<\/p>\n

Lake County School Board Chair Bill Mathias said he was informed of the situation immediately and commended the students for how they handled the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was very moving to me,\u201d Mathias said, noting students appeared to respond with sensitivity to what they believed was a mental health issue.<\/p>\n

Mathias also pointed to the district\u2019s \u201cYou Are Not Alone\u201d program, which places mental health specialists at every high school. He said those resources are available to staff, including substitute teachers.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Mathias acknowledged the ongoing challenge of hiring substitutes.<\/p>\n

News 6 has also asked the district whether it conducts any mental health screenings for substitutes and is awaiting a response.<\/p>\n
