Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the United States of \u2060abandoning internationally recognised diplomatic \u2060conventions in pursuit of its \u2060own interests, particularly in dominating energy markets, in an interview broadcast on Friday.<\/p>\n
Lavrov, interviewed by Russian state television, said Washington, in its dealings with Latin America and the Middle East, was \u201ctaking us back to a world where \u200cnothing existed\u201d in international law.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe United States has officially declared that no one can dictate to it,\u201d he said in the interview, the text of which was posted on the foreign ministry\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt cares only about its own well-being and is ready to defend that well-being by any means \u2013 coups, kidnappings or assassinations of \u2060leaders of countries that possess natural resources the Americans need.<\/p>\n
\u201cVenezuela, Iran, our American colleagues do \u200cnot hide that this is about oil. They have a doctrine of dominance in global energy markets.\u201d<\/p>\n
