That\u2019s why I often dig through what\u2019s new on streaming every week to surface the titles genuinely worth your time. This includes one of 2025\u2019s forgotten dramas based on a true story, starring Rose Byrne in the lead role. Netflix also has a big release this month in the form of \u201cApex,\u201d a survival thriller that sees a grieving woman become ensnared in a deadly game.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet\u2019s critically acclaimed sports drama \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d arriving on HBO Max. Ahead of watching \u201cThe Conjuring: Last Rites\u201d last year, it was noted that this franchise stands as the highest-grossing horror series of all time. I was already aware, but hearing it again before the final chapter added extra weight. The cinematic universe has undeniably made its mark on horror fans worldwide, myself included. While it may not match the white-knuckle intensity of the original, it still delivers a fitting farewell to the Warrens\u2019 story.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Conjuring: Last Rites\u201d follows paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) as they are drawn out of retirement to examine a disturbing case involving the Smurl family in 1980s Pennsylvania. As the Warrens investigate reports of violent supernatural activity inside the home, they uncover a dangerous presence linked to a cursed object with a long history. I\u2019ve been looking forward to this film ever since the first trailer dropped. It\u2019s also directed by Baltasar Korm\u00e1kur, a director well known for outdoor survival and adventure storytelling. His past work includes gripping, real-life inspired films such as \u201cEverest\u201d and \u201cAgainst the Ice,\u201d so I\u2019m confident Netflix\u2019s new thriller will be worth a watch.<\/p>\n

\u201cApex\u201d centers around Sasha (Charlize Theron), a grieving rock climber who travels alone into the remote Australian wilderness to escape her past. While overcoming steep cliffs and harsh landscapes, she becomes the target of Ben (Taron Egerton), a relentless hunter who begins stalking her through the outback. Sasha must rely on her climbing expertise and survival instincts to evade capture. But each encounter pushes both into increasingly extreme circumstances.<\/p>\n

\u2018No Other Choice\u2019 (Hulu)<\/p>\n

Director Park Chan-wook returns with a sharp, darkly funny thriller in the form of \u201cNo Other Choice.\u201d It’s a film unmistakably shaped by Park\u2019s vision, confronting human identity at a moment when technology and the world are shifting faster than ever. This is certainly one of 2025\u2019s most overlooked movies, and fortunately, its arrival on Hulu should help it reach a much larger audience over the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo Other Choice\u201d follows Man-su (Lee Byung-hun), a veteran paper industry expert who is suddenly laid off after decades of service. Struggling to find new employment, he grows increasingly desperate as he faces financial pressure and a shrinking job market. When conventional options fail, he begins targeting rival candidates connected to potential job openings, setting off a calculated chain of events across the industry.<\/p>\n
