Alcaraz, who is a two-time defending champion at Roland Garros, suffered his wrist injury during his first-round match at the ATP 500 event in Barcelona. Earlier this year, Alcaraz completed the Career Grand Slam at the Australian Open.

Nadal triumphed in Paris a record 14 times. The 39-year-old ATP No. 1 Club member made his final appearance at the clay-court major in 2024.

The No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings Jannik Sinner also shared his thoughts on the situation following his opening win in Madrid.

“I think what’s most important is to say that tennis needs Carlos,” Sinner said after hearing the news. “Tennis is a much better sport when he’s around.”
