The two were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/missing-teen-car-d4vd-1235430411\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">believed to have been in a relationship<\/a>, and the teen\u2019s dismembered and severely decomposed body was discovered in Burke\u2019s Tesla last September. Rivas was last seen alive going into Burke\u2019s Los Angeles home in late April 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAnd amid calls for streaming platforms to pull his music from their sites, YouTube has since demonetized his account, a spokesperson confirmed to Rolling Stone.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019ve suspended this artist from the YouTube Partner Program in accordance with our <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.google.com%2Fyoutube%2Fanswer%2F7650329%3Fhl%3Den&amp;data=05%7C02%7Ccroundtree%40rollingstone.com%7Ccd47d5d51b6547999d9708dea26344e7%7Ce950f25546e44144a778a6ff4f557492%7C0%7C0%7C639126744415092257%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=fjASIO7Y%2FzBUud%2Fj0rRXSZkiPMOa4c2b9O59NndOmOQ%3D&amp;reserved=0\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Creator Responsibility<\/a> policy, following off-platform behavior that is harmful to YouTube\u2019s Community,\u201d a company spokesperson said Friday. \u201cAs a result, his channels can no longer earn money from YouTube.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tBurke, 21, pleaded not guilty to the charges. His attorneys have said that their client \u201cdid not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez, and he was not the cause of her death.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tUntil Rivas\u2019 body was discovered, Burke\u2019s career was on the rise. An overnight success story, his love of the video game Fortnite led him to record music from his bedroom closet. By 2022, his songs \u201cRomantic Homicide\u201d and \u201cHere With Me\u201d were going viral on TikTok, earning him a record deal with Darkroom Records under the Interscope\/UMG umbrella. Burke released his debut EP, Petals to Thorns, in May 2023, and his debut studio album Withered in April 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAfter police began looking at Burke as a suspect, the record label quietly dropped Burke sometime last year. His music on streaming platforms now credits D4VD ENT., LLC.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\tEditor\u2019s picks<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tArtists who have collaborated with Burke have begun removing their songs from streaming platforms. Kali Uchis was among the first, pulling down their joint track \u201cCrashing,\u201d and was later followed by Holly Humberstone, Laufey and Damiano David. Rolling Stone understands UMG has helped facilitate that process for some artists.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tStreaming sites such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/spotify\/\" id=\"auto-tag_spotify\" data-tag=\"spotify\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spotify<\/a> and Apple Music are now facing calls to remove Burke\u2019s music entirely from its platforms, with music advocacy group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/remove-all-of-d4vd-s-music-from-streaming-platforms\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Industry Blackout launching a petition<\/a> to that effect. \u201cThe music industry has a responsibility that goes beyond commerce. When an artist has been charged with the sexual abuse and murder of a minor, a child who was drawn into his orbit through his music and public persona, continuing to stream, promote, and profit from his catalog is a choice.
