\n\tIt\u2019s a bold new world for Star Trek<\/a>: Strange New Worlds as the series prepares to launch season four. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe team behind the Paramount+<\/a> show hit the CCXP Mexico<\/a> stage on Saturday to reveal that the fourth season premiere will debut globally on July 23. The 10-episode season rolls out weekly on Thursdays through Sept. 24 for the series that was last seen with the season three finale that began streaming in September. <\/p>\n

\n\tStar Trek: Strange New Worlds<\/a> castmembers Rebecca Romijn<\/a>, Ethan Peck, Celia Rose Gooding and Paul Wesley<\/a> announced the return date and debuted the new season\u2019s teaser trailer<\/a> in front of a packed auditorium at the annual event in Mexico City. Anson Mount<\/a> leads the series as Capt. Christopher Pike, while Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, Martin Quinn and Carol Kane\u00a0round out the cast.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a form of escapism,\u201d Wesley said in explaining the enduring appeal of the Star Trek franchise and its optimism. \u201cIt\u2019s a form of us believing in that kind of future.\u201d The crowd was clearly thrilled to see the Vampire Diaries star in attendance and screamed wildly almost every time he took the microphone to speak or mentioned his former show. This led him to joke, \u201cI\u2019ve got to come to Mexico City more often.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the first footage, La\u2019An Noonien-Singh (Chong) warns Nyota Uhura (Gooding), \u201cAny of these missions could be our last.\u201d The trailer ends with James T. Kirk (Wesley) declaring, \u201cLet\u2019s boldly go.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWesley joked from the stage, \u201cI\u2019m just flattered that they\u2019re premiering it on my birthday. Of course, that\u2019s on purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRomijn added, \u201cWe\u2019re so proud of this show, and we\u2019re really proud of season four \u2014 and season five. We really think it\u2019s our best season yet.\u201d The actress also noted about season four, \u201cThere\u2019s dinosaurs!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWesley went on to tease about season four: \u201cWe explore a little about Kirk\u2019s past and the demons that are haunting him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor also praised William Shatner for having previously taken to social media to share his blessing for Wesley portraying the same character that Shatner originated in the initial series. \u201cIt was such a lovely, beautiful passing of the baton,\u201d Wesley said. \u201cWilliam Shatner did not have to do that. I thought that was so incredibly generous of him and very classy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGooding teased the evolution of her version of Nyota\u00a0Uhura as the character continues to evolve toward the version that actress Nichelle Nichols originated in the 1960s. \u201cShe talks back,\u201d Gooding said of her character in the new season. \u201cShe stands up for herself. I think we\u2019re getting closer and closer to Nichelle Nichols\u2019 Uhura.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStar Trek: Strange New Worlds wrapped production last year on its fifth and final season. Season five will introduce two legacy characters<\/a> from the original Star Trek series that premiered in 1966, with Thomas Jane set to play Dr. Leonard \u201cBones\u201d McCoy and Kai Murakami portraying Hikaru Sulu. The first three seasons are currently streaming on Paramount+. <\/p>\n

\n\tAkiva Goldsman<\/a> and Henry Alonso Myers serve as co-showrunners for Strange New Worlds.
