Team News and Ticks reports on their Patreon<\/a> that Jack Wilshere<\/a> is on the verge of returning to Arsenal as part of the club\u2019s academy setup.<\/p>\n The role on offer is Arsenal\u2019s u21 head coach job, and though Wilshere is yet to put pen to paper, all parties are reportedly confident that the deal will be done.<\/p>\n Wilshere had initially left Arsenal for an assistant manager job at Norwich City, even taking the top job on an interim basis after Johannes Hoff Thorup\u2019s departure. But he opted to leave the club when they chose not to give him the position on a full-time basis.<\/p>\n The 33-year-old was then in the frame to become Plymouth Argyle\u2019s head coach, but the club ended up picking Tom Cleverley<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n As a result, Wilshere is available to return to Arsenal if and when they can agree a deal, having previously managed the Gunners\u2019 u18s.<\/p>\n Wilshere\u2019s comeback would be a boost for multiple reasons, not least his influence on up and coming midfield talent Max Dowman<\/a>.<\/p>\n David Ornstein<\/a> reported for The Athletic<\/a> that sources close to Dowman\u2019s family had suggested they were extremely disappointed by the coach\u2019s exit in 2024.<\/p>\n Wilshere was reportedly an important figure for Dowman both due to his coaching advice and as a role model, having been through a similar fast-track promotion through the Arsenal academy himself.<\/p>\n There\u2019s also the fact that the Arsenal u21s have struggled in pre-season more generally, drawing one match and losing their other four.
