Manchester United are close to achieving one of their main aims from the start of the Premier League<\/a> season – a return to the Champions League.<\/a> Michael Carrick’s side sit third in the table with five games remaining.<\/a><\/p>\n This year, the top five clubs are guaranteed automatic qualification for the competition, while sixth place could also become a Champions League<\/a> spot if Aston Villa<\/a> finish fifth and win the Europa League.<\/a><\/p>\n United will have the chance to strengthen their position when they return to Premier League<\/a> action on Monday, hosting Brentford at Old Trafford. There was a momentary sense of relief.”<\/p>\n Arsenal ‘talks’<\/p>\n Portuguese newspaper Record<\/a> reports Arsenal<\/a> have opened talks over Sporting Clube de Portugal left\u2011back Maxi Araujo amid interest from Manchester United.<\/a> The Uruguayan is believed to have caught Mikel Arteta’s eye during their Champions League double\u2011header in March and April.<\/p>\n Sporting paid \u00a313m for Araujo in 2024(Image: Michael Zemanek\/Shutterstock)<\/p>\n It’s said the north London club have made an ‘initial approach’ to Araujo to discuss a potential summer move.
