NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. \u2014 Class of 2026 guard Lyndell Buckingham has seen his stock rise over the last few months after a strong showing with ProSkills on the EYBL circuit. Viewed as a talented scorer, Buckingham, the 6-foot-2 guard out of Pace Academy (TX), averaged 16.2 points per game at Peach Jam.<\/p>\n
Playing a key part in his team\u2019s success to the tournament quarterfinals, Buckingham has began to hear from various Division I schools. Buckingham currently holds one offer from Jacksonville, but he\u2019s recently received interest from a variety of programs. With a true point guard frame, Buckingham prides himself as an elite and versaitile defender, complimenting his exceptional scoring ability.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of people don\u2019t like to play defense,\u201d Buckingham told ZAGSBLOG. \u201cI play defense.\u201d<\/p>\n
Spending this summer with a talented ProSkills team, Buckingham learned to stay positive while going through shooting slumps and struggles offensively. <\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cMy jump shot wasn\u2019t going in the first three sessions,\u201d Buckingham said. \u201cI stay consistent, stay in the gym and it\u2019s falling now.\u201d<\/p>\n
The point guard averaged 10.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 14 regular season games before a productive Peach Jam, where he posted 16.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists. <\/p>\n

He talks to me everyday. Really showing a lot of love. That\u2019s really the only person reaching out. I\u2019m supposed to be getting on a zoom call a little later this week with the full coaching staff, get to know everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n New Mexico State: \u201cCoach [Shunn] Buchanan is reaching out. He watched me play at TABC. He said he liked my game. He said he\u2019s gonna watch me play Thursday, so looking forward to that.\u201d<\/p>\n UT Arlington: \u201cTexted me yesterday, said they like my game. They coming to watch my game tomorrow too.\u201d<\/p>\n San Jose State: \u201cReally the same thing. They coming to watch me play tomorrow too. Coach [Jeff] Strohm is coming to watch me play. I really got to do some more research on the conferences and stuff like that.\u201d<\/p>\n Buckingham told ZAGSBLOG that there is one NBA player he has always watched closely, due to the similarities between the two\u2019s play styles: Bones Hyland. With almost identical frames, Buckingham said he has been compared to the former VCU star by various people. <\/p>\n The point guard added he\u2019s looking for a program that values their point guards and trusts them.<\/p>\n \u201cWilling to let me do what I do best: scoring the ball and getting my teammates open,\u201d Buckingham said. \u201cReally letting me rock out.\u201d<\/p>\n Coming from a family of football players, Buckingham is looking to become the first person in his family to play collegiate basketball, which means a lot to him and his family. <\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s gonna be pretty good,\u201d Buckingham said. \u201cEverybody\u2019s counting on me back at home.\u201d<\/p>\n When Buckingham isn\u2019t on the basketball court, he enjoys bowling or playing golf. What will he bring to the next level?<\/p>\n \u00a0\u201cA dog,\u201d Buckingham said. \u201cWilling to do anything for my team to win. That\u2019s what my coaches stress. Win. You gotta be able to win to get to the next level, that\u2019s what coaches like.
