ORMOND BEACH, Fla. \u2014 A 34-year-old Holly Hill woman was killed Sunday morning in a crash involving a sports utility vehicle and a sedan.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to the intersection of South Orchard Street and Cherrywood Drive at approximately 11:47 a.m. Sunday where the SUV driver,\u00a0Rebekah Petrick, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision with a sedan.<\/p>\n
The passenger of the SUV and the driver of the sedan were both injured and transported to a local hospital. The driver of the sedan is cooperating with the investigation, police said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur thoughts are with everyone involved,\u201d Police Chief Jesse Godfrey said in a press release issued by the department. \u201cThis remains an active investigation, and we are diligently working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.\u201d<\/p>\n

A stretch of roadway along Orchard Street in Ormond Beach was\u00a0closed for several hours Sunday — between Division Avenue and Hammock Lane. Cherrywood Drive was\u00a0also\u00a0inaccessible to thruway traffic as fire department crews responded to the scene, due to a fire hydrant damaged\u00a0in the car crash, causing rushing water from the hydrant water to fill the roadway surface and resulting in emergency repairs to be made.<\/p>\n
