Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Xavi Simons<\/a> has ruptured his ACL.<\/p>\n The 23-year-old sustained the injury to his right knee during Spurs’ 1-0 win over Wolves<\/a> at Molineux on Saturday afternoon while chasing a loose ball alongside Hugo Bueno.<\/p>\n Simons immediately fell to the turf, writhing in pain as medical assistants rushed over to provide treatment. The outlook appeared bleak when the attacking midfielder needed to be stretchered off the pitch<\/a>.<\/p>\n And Spurs<\/a> have now confirmed the worst, explaining that their talent will undergo surgery in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n The club wrote on Monday morning: “We can confirm that Xavi Simons has ruptured the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his right knee;.<\/p>\n “The 23-year-old suffered the injury during the second half of our Premier League fixture at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.<\/p>\n “Xavi will undergo surgery in the coming weeks and, following that, will then begin his rehabilitation with our medical team.<\/p>\n FOLLOW OUR TOTTENHAM FB PAGE! My season has come to an abrupt end and I\u2019m just trying to process it.<\/p>\n “Honestly, I\u2019m heartbroken. None of it makes sense. All I\u2019ve wanted to do is fight for my team and now the ability to do that has been snatched away from me\u2026 along with the World Cup.<\/p>\n “Representing my country this summer\u2026just gone. It\u2019ll take time to find peace with this, but I\u2019ll continue to be the best teammate I can be.
