\n\tFirst Lady Melania Trump<\/a> issued a blistering statement about Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>, following a scathing faux White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner monologue<\/a> he delivered in advance of the event last week.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe first lady posted on X, \u201cKimmel\u2019s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn\u2019t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel shouldn\u2019t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough.\u00a0 It is time for ABC to take a stand.\u00a0 How many times will ABC\u2019s leadership enable Kimmel\u2019s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring his show on Thursday, Kimmel presented an \u201calternative\u201d White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner monologue, in a segment set up as if he were in the Washington Hilton ballroom and the first lady, Donald Trump<\/a> and other administration guests were there.<\/p>\n

\n\tOne of his jokes in particular has drawn new attention, given the shooting incident at the dinner on Saturday, forcing the Secret Service to rush the first lady, her husband and other administration officials from the dais and other seats near the stage. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn his \u201calternative\u201d monologue on Thusday, Kimmel said, \u201cOur First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel also made jokes about Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>, a particularly sensitive topic for the first lady and the president.<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel said, \u201cOh, by the way, before we go any further, Melania, this is Donald. Donald, this is Melania. That was my impression of Jeffrey Epstein.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this month, the first lady summoned the press so she could deliver a statement denying that she was introduced to her husband by Epstein.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his Thursday segment, Kimmel also quipped, \u201cYou know Melania\u2019s birthday is on Sunday. That\u2019s right, She\u2019s planning to celebrate at home the same way she always does: Looking out a window and whispering, \u2018What have I done?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAn ABC spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn September, Kimmel made a joke about the response to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a quip that ignited fierce criticism on the right.<\/p>\n

\n\tA day later, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr criticized Kimmel\u2019s joke, and told a podcaster that \u201cwe can do this the easy way or the hard way,\u201d a warning to broadcasters who hold licenses regulated by the agency. Hours later, ABC announced that it was sidelining the show, as two major station groups, Nexstar and Sinclair, decided to preempt it.
