Bazzana, 23, hit .287\/.422\/.511 in 24 Triple-A games this season and will take over at second base for a Guardians team that&#8217;s a half-game back of first in the AL Central.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JeffPassan\/status\/2048934650366546352?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">April 28, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The second baseman played three seasons for the Beavers from 2022-24, setting multiple program records &#8211; including career hits (251), doubles (52), home runs (45), stolen bases (66), and walks (180).<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Bazzana, 23, represented his native country of Australia in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft started his professional career with the Lake County Captains (A+) to finish the 2024 season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He ascended the minor league ranks all the way to AAA with the Columbus Clippers by the end of last season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In 24 games for the Clippers in 2026, Bazzana is hitting .287 with two home runs, 11 RBIs, and 11 doubles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Cleveland\u2019s primary second baseman through the first month of the 2026 season has been 24-year-old Juan Brito, who is hitting just .176 in 51 at bats over 15 games.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KPTV-KPDX.
