Family is everything to Jack Nicholson<\/a>, a source tells Closer.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s very close to his kids and they\u2019ve really shown up for him<\/a> in his later years,\u201d the source says of the father of six. \u201cHe says all the time how lucky he is that they\u2019re not too busy for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Thursday, April 23, Nicholson\u2019s daughter Lorraine, 36, whose mom is model-actress Rebecca Broussard, posted a rare photo<\/a> of the reclusive Oscar winner to her Instagram Story in honor of his 89th birthday.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t have a whole lot going on these days,\u201d admits the source. \u201cHe hardly leaves the house<\/a>.\u201d However, \u201ca lot of his old Hollywood agents and friends have been trying to get him to agree to take on another project for one last hurrah,\u201d the source reveals. \u201cThey all feel like he still has something to offer and lately, Jack seems to be warming to the idea.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nicholson hasn\u2019t made an appearance on the big screen since 2010\u2019s How Do You Know but is still reading scripts, longtime pal and director James L. Brooks told People<\/a> in December.<\/p>\n

While the As Good As It Gets actor \u201cdoesn\u2019t have the energy he used to have so he\u2019s not going to be up for late-night shoots or early morning call times,\u201d Closer\u2019s source notes \u201cthe feeling among his inner circle is that he would actually really do well being back on set.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nicholson\u2019s children are \u201cvery supportive of the idea too,\u201d the source adds, especially son Ray, 34, who\u2019s followed in his father\u2019s famous footsteps<\/a> in films like Smile 2 and Novacaine. \u201c[He] would love the chance to do a movie with his dad.\u201d<\/p>\n
