The Celtics got some major housekeeping done Tuesday when it comes to their roster. They first traded Georges Niang<\/a> and a pair of second-round draft picks to the Jazz. Then they signed free agent and former Raptors forward Chris Boucher<\/a> to a one-year contract.<\/p>\n

Among those deals, the C\u2019s also acquired former UMass and St. John\u2019s forward RJ Luis as part of the Jazz deal. Luis went undrafted in this year\u2019s draft before signing a two-way contract with Utah. Now, he returns to the state of Massachusetts. <\/p>\n

Luis, 22, started his career with UMass<\/a> as part of the 2022-23 season, where he was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Freshman team. He then played with the Red Storm for the past two seasons under former Celtics coach Rick Pitino. Luis was named the Big East Player of the Year along with earning second-team All-American honors. He averaged 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 35 games for St. John\u2019s last season.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not too often where an undrafted rookie on a two-way contract gets traded right away, but that\u2019s where Luis finds himself. The Celtics have Miles Norris and Max Shulga <\/a>signed to two-way contracts. So it\u2019ll be interesting to see what happens with big man Amari Williams, who was picked 46th overall in this year\u2019s draft.<\/p>\n
