Michigan Department of Natural Resources\u00bf<\/p>\n<p>The Michigan DNR is now asking for the public\u2019s help in solving the \u201ctroubling case\u201d and offering a possible cash reward to tipsters who can provide information leading to an arrest in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/03\/us-news\/virginia-hunter-gets-1-day-in-prison-for-killing-20-juvenile-bald-eagles-and-hawks-authorities\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">string of eagle deaths. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bald eagles are a state and federally protected species. Killing or injuring the birds can <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/06\/us-news\/minnesota-green-energy-program-fined-for-killing-bald-eagle\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">result in thousands of dollars in fees and possible jail time. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Violating the 1940 Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act can result in a fine of up to $100,000 and a possible sentence of one year behind bars for a first offense. SNEHIT PHOTO \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n<p>In Michigan, state penalties for harming the national bird include a 90-day misdemeanor, fines ranging from $100 to $1000 per eagle, and a reimbursement of $1,500 per eagle, wildlife authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>The US Fish and Wildlife Service and local tribes will assist with an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone with information is asked to contact the\u00a0DNR\u2019s Report All Poaching Hotline\u00a0by calling or texting 800-292-7800.
