{"id":612553,"date":"2026-04-29T04:04:12","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T04:04:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/612553\/"},"modified":"2026-04-29T04:04:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T04:04:12","slug":"video-shows-sea-lion-pups-released-back-into-the-ocean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/612553\/","title":{"rendered":"Video shows sea lion pups released back into the ocean"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An emotional scene unfolded at Venice Beach Tuesday\u00a0as three rescued <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/20\/us-news\/sea-lions-released-back-into-the-sea-after-shocking-shootings\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sea lion pups were released back into the ocean<\/a> \u2014 drawing cheers from a crowd that had gathered to witness their return to the wild.<\/p>\n<p>Heartwarming video showed the trio \u2014 Mogul, Bronze and Missouri \u2014 as they emerged cautiously from individual carriers, hesitating for a moment before instinct took over.<\/p>\n<p>The pups huddled close together, briefly wrapping around one another, before slowly making their way toward the shoreline at the Venice Fishing Pier. After sliding into the water, onlookers who had been asked to remain quiet until the animals reached the ocean broke out in applause and cheers.<\/p>\n<p>A trio of sea lion pup were released back into the ocean on Tuesday.  Obtained by the CA  Post<\/p>\n<p>Once in the surf, the pups could be seen swimming side by side, riding the waves and gradually heading toward deeper waters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is really special to see our community gathered like this today,\u201d said John Warner, CEO of the\u00a0Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>The three pups each arrived at the Marine Mammal Center after being separated from their mothers too early to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/14\/science\/sick-sea-lion-pup-rescued-after-hitching-a-ride-on-familys-boat-to-california-shore\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">survive on their own<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The pups \u2014 Mogul, Bronze and Missouri \u2014 slowly made their way toward the Venice Beach shoreline. Obtained by the CA  Post<\/p>\n<p>Mogul was found near Marina del Rey being repeatedly pushed off a dock by waves off while underweight and vulnerable. Bronze, rescued from Redondo Beach, was found similarly malnourished and alone. Missouri was discovered severely emaciated on a jetty, with his ribs visibly protruding.<\/p>\n<p>All three were initially tube-fed before learning to eat fish on their own, gaining strength over several weeks of care. By the time of their release, each had grown strong enough to compete for food and survive independently in the wild.<\/p>\n<p>Local city Councilwoman\u00a0Traci Park\u00a0called the moment \u201creally remarkable.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Once in the surf, the pups could be seen swimming side by side.
