WNBA star Angel Reese has singled out rookie guard Raven Johnson for praise following her performance for the Indiana Fever in their preseason win over the New York Liberty.<\/p>\n
Following a tumultuous but transformative offseason for the WNBA, the 2026 season is set to get underway next week, with all eyes on Fever<\/a> star Caitlin Clark<\/a>. Last weekend, Clark made her first appearance in nine months for the Fever, scoring seven points and registering four assists to help Indiana beat the Liberty 109-91.<\/p>\n The 24-year-old was limited to just 13 games last season due to injury. Elsewhere, the NBA has announced it is implementing a plan to reform the draft lottery to prevent tanking<\/a>.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Diego Pavia’s NFL future takes major twist days after humiliating fate at Draft<\/a>READ MORE: NBA finalizing massive overhaul of Draft Lottery amid tanking epidemic<\/a><\/p>\n However, while Clark’s return to action saw her score an impressive trademark step-back three from beyond the arc to mark her return, Reese, who was traded to the Atlanta Dream this offseason, was left impressed by another Fever star, rookie Raven Johnson.<\/p>\n During the recent 2026 WNBA Draft, Johnson was drafted 10th overall by the Fever following her collegiate career with South Carolina.<\/p>\n Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n Against the Liberty, Johnson played 18 minutes, scoring six points by going 3-for-3 from the field. She also recorded three rebounds, two blocks, a steal, and eight assists.<\/p>\n Taking to X, Reese posted: “So proud of my booskieeee @HollywoodRaven.”<\/p>\n Johnson replied to Reese: “love you booskieeeee.”<\/p>\n Reese wasn’t the only one who was impressed by Johnson’s rookie debut performance in the preseason win over New York. “You can’t teach the instincts, you can’t teach those go-go gadget arms,” said White of Johnson’s contributions on the defensive side of the ball.<\/p>\n “And the length, and her ability to recover, and so she’s just going to continue to grow.”<\/p>\n Her performance also saw her singled out for praise by her former college coach, Dawn Staley. “@HollywoodRaven I know it’s only a @WNBA preseason game but baby you look comfortable,” Staley wrote on X.<\/p>\n “You are and have been built for the moment. Elite defender. Check! Elite PG. Check! Elite playmaker. Check!
