MS NOW<\/a> host Chris Hayes<\/a> on Tuesday took on President Donald Trump<\/a> for having \u201cmore important things on his mind\u201d as he appears to be \u201cmanifestly bored\u201d by his unpopular Iran war<\/a>. (Watch more in the clip below.)<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of this mad king behavior, all of these obsessions \u2014 that\u2019s what Trump occupies himself with now. That\u2019s where he\u2019s focused,\u201d said Hayes, who pointed to Trump\u2019s White House ballroom push and his administration going after critics like ex-FBI Director James Comey<\/a> and late night host Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Beyond the proposed $400 million ballroom project, Hayes touched on the State Department\u2019s plans to introduce a new U.S. passport design with Trump\u2019s face and signature<\/a> on it.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur nearly 80-year-old president\u2019s authoritarian obsession with remaking America in his weird and warped image is consuming him and distracting him from \u2014 again, I can\u2019t emphasize this enough \u2014 the enormous international crisis he caused and that still is there,\u201d the host said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the lasting tangible damage that is doing around the world from the Middle East to the middle of your driveway.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier in the program, Hayes noted that U.S. gas prices hit their highest level<\/a> in four years on Tuesday, reaching an average cost of $4.18 a gallon, per AAA.<\/p>\n

That figure sits at $4.22 a gallon, as of Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s wholly gone up because of Donald Trump<\/a> launching the war. There\u2019s nothing else happening that has made it jump that much,\u201d Hayes stressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it\u2019s just the most tangible example of all the ways that Trump and the Republican Party<\/a> have acted affirmatively at almost every crossroads to make prices higher for people.\u201d<\/p>\n

With negotiations to end the war stalled, Hayes said the president can\u2019t figure out how to end the conflict, suggesting that it\u2019s because he\u2019s essentially \u201cover it.\u201d<\/p>\n
