\n\tWhile Meryl Streep<\/a> is reprising one of her most iconic characters in The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/a>, her rate has increased quite a bit in the 20 years since the original.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 3x Oscar winner recently revealed that she originally turned down the 2006 adaptation of Lauren Weisberger\u2019s book, noting that \u201cit took me this long\u201d to gain the confidence to negotiate on her pay offer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI read the script. Script was great,\u201d she said on Today<\/a>. \u201cAnd they called me up and they made an offer, and I said, \u2018No, not going to do it.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStreep continued, \u201cI knew it was going to be a hit, and I wanted to see if I doubled my ask. And they went right away and said sure. And I thought, I\u2019m 50, 60 \u2014 it took me this long to understand that I could do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWith her instantly classic performance in the first film, Streep said, \u201cThey needed me, I felt. \u2026 I was ready to retire. But, you know, that was a lesson.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to Streep\u2019s Runway editor Miranda Priestley, The Devil Wears Prada 2 sees the fashionable return of Anne Hathaway\u2019s Andi, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling.<\/p>\n

\n\tTracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman will also reprise their roles from the original 2006 Aline Brosh McKenna-penned film, with Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J.
