HARTFORD, CT \u2014 Hartford HealthCare<\/a> this week announced a long-term plan to remake the Hartford Hospital campus, outlining nearly $1 billion in investments and new construction through 2035.<\/p>\n

The initiative, called \u201cHHC 2035,\u201d<\/a> centers on a new 14-story patient tower that would include 216 inpatient beds, updated procedure rooms, and expanded prep and recovery areas.<\/p>\n

Plans also call for a new Patient Arrival Center on Jefferson Street with parking, dining, gardens and a conference center, along with a two-story lobby connecting the new facilities. <\/p>\n

A redesigned healing garden and public concourse are also included.<\/p>\n

Additional projects outlined in the announcement include an expansion of the hospital\u2019s Emergency Department, new outpatient services through a \u201cCommunity Corner,\u201d and upgrades to cancer care spaces.<\/p>\n

Hartford HealthCare described the effort as a \u201cdefining decade\u201d for both the system and the state, emphasizing a shift toward expanded access, modern facilities and new technology.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a defining decade for Connecticut and Hartford HealthCare is leading the way forward,\u201d the organization said in the statement.<\/p>\n

The system said the goal is to create a \u201cworld-class destination\u201d for care while modernizing aging infrastructure and preparing for future growth. <\/p>\n

The plan also emphasizes improving patient experience and making care more \u201cconsumer-centric,\u201d including easier access and navigation within the hospital.<\/p>\n

The announcement did not outline specific timelines for each phase of construction or whether regulatory approvals are still required.<\/p>\n

In addition to physical upgrades, Hartford HealthCare said the initiative will focus on long-term goals such as reducing costs through efficiencies, expanding access to care, supporting workforce development, and promoting health equity.<\/p>\n

The system also indicated it will continue evaluating upgrades across its hospitals statewide during the same period, including investments in technology, sustainability and patient experience.<\/p>\n

The scope of the project suggests multiple phases of planning, approvals and construction over the next decade.<\/p>\n
