DES Moines, Iowa — Governor Kim Reynolds has signed a wide-ranging batch of bills into law, touching on issues from education and health care to banking and electric bicycles.

Among the new laws is a measure affecting the Iowa Propane Education and Research Council, along with updates to regulations for motor vehicle dealers. The dealer-related law addresses access to certain vehicles, how long records must be stored, and rules for remote car sales.

Veterans with service-connected disabilities will see changes as well. One bill waives tuition and mandatory fees at Iowa’s public regent universities for qualifying veterans.

State employees are also impacted. A newly signed law establishes paid parental leave, setting guidelines for eligible workers and when the benefit takes effect.

Another measure focuses on parental rights in medical decisions, allowing a parent or guardian to consent to certain medical services for a minor even if the child objects.

Lawmakers also approved a bill limiting civil or criminal liability tied to the effects of greenhouse gas emissions, as well as legislation that eliminates certain higher education programs.

Changes are coming to Iowa’s courts, too. One law addresses magistrate appointments, senior magistrate roles and compensation for judicial officers.

In health and human services, a new law aims to better align how programs are delivered, including services for older adults, people with disabilities and volunteer programs.

Election procedures were also part of the package. One bill modifies rules for satellite absentee voting stations.

Other measures signed into law deal with state bank operations, including requirements for board meetings and electronic activities, and set new limits on power output for low-speed electric bicycles and similar devices.

Additional legislation affects medical licensing, including administrative medicine licenses, and updates rules for residential real estate. Those changes include access to homeowners association records and disclosure requirements for home inspections.

The bills take effect on varying timelines, with some provisions implemented immediately and others rolling out in the months ahead.

DES Moines, Iowa — Governor Kim Reynolds has signed a wide-ranging batch of bills into law, touching on…

[59
97,252,253
post-616956","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-health-care","tag-health","tag-health-care","tag-healthcare
["GET
