Though they have yet to lose a series<\/a>, the Atlanta Braves had a chance at a sweep spoiled in Thursday afternoon\u2019s 5-2 loss<\/a> to the Detroit Tigers. The Braves jumped out to an early lead, and a strong start from Bryce Elder<\/a> put them in position to complete the sweep.<\/p>\n

However, things unraveled late. Atlanta\u2019s bullpen faltered in the eighth and ninth innings, as Joel Payamps<\/a> and Jos\u00e9 Su\u00e1rez struggled to hold the lead. Facing a three-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth, the Braves were unable to mount a comeback, resulting in their tenth loss of the season.<\/p>\n

Up next, the Braves travel out West for a three-game set with the Colorado Rockies<\/a>. MLB.com<\/a>\u2019s Mark Bowman reported the Braves\u2019 pitching plans, which include Grant Holmes<\/a>, Chris Sale<\/a>, and Spencer Strider<\/a>.<\/p>\n
