They&#8217;ve since lost five of the last six, including being swept by the Colorado <a class=\"entity\">Rockies<\/a>. New York&#8217;s 10-21 record is the worst in baseball.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"false\" data-v-ace7f8b6=\"\">&#8220;We know our record is not what we want, and we know we are capable of more,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/carlos-mendoza-mets-manager-job-safe-despite-start\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Stearns said to MLB.com<\/a> on Friday. &#8220;We don\u2019t view this as a manager problem, and we don\u2019t intend to make a change.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"false\" data-v-ace7f8b6=\"\">The Mets are last in the National League East, two games behind the <a class=\"entity\">Philadelphia Phillies<\/a>, who parted ways with manager Rob Thomson on Tuesday morning. The Phillies have since won three straight under interim manager Don Mattingly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"false\" data-v-ace7f8b6=\"\">Mendoza was hired in 2023 and is on the last guaranteed year of a three-year contract.
