intriguing unsolved cases.

Ali claimed he could cure both patients’ cancer with a “90% success rate,” charging up to £15,000 (about $20,400) in one case and between £10,000 and £12,000 (approximately $13,600 to $16,300) in another, according to the BBC, which reported on the tribunal findings.

Hearing evidence indicated that Ali administered intravenous vitamin C and garlic oil, along with oxygenated water, sodium bicarbonate and ozone therapy, which an expert witness said were not supported by any clinical evidence as cancer treatments.

The tribunal determined that Ali was aware the treatments were not evidence-based and described his conduct as “dishonest,” the outlet reported.

One patient, identified as Patient A, had stage three prostate cancer and was told by Ali that his condition was “easy to cure.” Ali “laughed” during a phone call and suggested he would refund the money if the treatment did not work, The Independent reported.

Patient A had previously been advised by medical professionals that surgery was the most effective option, but sought alternatives due to concerns about side effects.

The treatments were carried out at Ali’s semi-detached home in Leicester, which was described by investigators and witnesses as unsanitary and unsuitable for clinical care, the news outlet reported.

A Public Health England inspection found “visibly contaminated” surfaces, reused medical equipment and conditions described as “dirty and unhygienic,” with little separation between the home and treatment areas, according to the BBC.

Investigators also found non-sterile containers and other concerning conditions, including a “decaying” mattress in the garden, both outlets reported.

One patient with terminal ovarian cancer turned to Ali after being told by NHS doctors that no further treatment options were available, and that he told her chemotherapy did not work and that the NHS was “killing” patients while pharmaceutical companies profited.

That patient died shortly after discontinuing treatment with Ali, but before investigations by police and public health officials were completed.

Ali denied the allegations in an email to the General Medical Council (GMC), stating that he “never said he can cure cancer,” according to the BBC.

However, investigators found promotional materials at his home that described him as a “qualified doctor” and claimed he could cure cancers with a success rate of over 90%.

The tribunal concluded that Ali posed a “high and ongoing risk to public protection,” citing multiple breaches of professional standards, including dishonesty, unsafe practices and misleading patients, the outlet reported.

In its decision, the panel said Ali had “exploited the trust inherent in his position as a registered doctor” and determined that removal from the medical register was the only appropriate sanction.

Read the original article on <a
