\n Oregon man to tee it up with world’s best at PGA Championship

\u201cIt\u2019s a little bit of a pinch me type of deal, I don\u2019t think it has sunk in yet,\u201d Fisher said.<\/p>\n
The 46 year old earned his spot Wednesday, becoming one of 20 PGA club professionals in the United States to qualify for the PGA Championship. Fisher bested hundreds of competitors over four days of tournament play at Bandon Dunes.<\/p>\n
\u201cIts always been a dream of mine to play in a PGA tour, you know, major. Its like, hard to believe its coming true,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Unlike touring professionals, PGA club pros balance their own game with teaching lessons and managing day-to-day golf course operations \u2014 responsibilities that leave limited time to practice.<\/p>\n
\u201cJuggling that as PGA professionals, we all know that grind. We all know coming out to the first tee without hitting a range ball and trying to play well,\u201d said David Brown, head PGA professional at Arrowhead Golf Club.<\/p>\n
Fisher, a father of two, said he typically plays about 20 rounds per year and will try to carve out additional time to prepare before competing against the world\u2019s best.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere won\u2019t be any 3 hour grind sessions, those days are long gone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Fisher\u2019s parents were in Bandon as their son climbed the leaderboard during the final round, sharing in the moment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a dream of every golfer to imagine you are playing in a major championship, beyond imaginable,\u201d said his father, Howard Fisher.<\/p>\n
\u201cDreams do come true, and I know he has dreamt of doing something like this his whole life, so its great,\u201d said his mother, Marcia.<\/p>\n
As he prepares for the tournament, Fisher said he plans to keep the experience in perspective, surrounded by family, including his brother, who will serve as his caddie.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving my wife Jessie and our kids, and my brother on the bag, my parents, my whole family I\u2019m sure will be there. Just enjoying the moment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
