Kimmel drew widespread backlash from Trump\u2019s supporters<\/a> after joking that Melania had the \u201cglow of an expectant widow\u201d days before a gunman stormed the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner<\/a> on April 25.<\/p>\n \u201cI appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel\u2019s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale,\u201d Trump said of Kimmel\u2019s joke on his Truth Social platform. \u201cJimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n Kimmel later defended his divisive joke during Monday night\u2019s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, describing it as a light roast about the couple\u2019s age difference and \u201cnot, by any stretch of the definition, a call to assassination.\u201d<\/p>\n On The Megyn Kelly Show Thursday, Kelly, surprisingly, called Trump\u2019s attack on Kimmel \u201cvery inappropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe president of the United States should not be calling for any private company to fire any employee, especially over free speech,\u201d the former Fox News host added.<\/p>\n Just days earlier, Kelly had lambasted Kimmel over the joke, saying he never misses \u201ca moment to be crass.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cFor this guy to get up there and say she\u2019s \u2018got the glow of an expectant widow,\u2019 like how insensitive can you be?\u201d she asked during Monday\u2019s episode of her show. <\/p>\n \u201cHonestly, Donald Trump, he\u2019s got children, he\u2019s got grandchildren. He does have a wife, and he has millions of people who love him. And the \u2018glow of an expectant widow.\u2019 How sick are you? Truly the left and the de-sensitivity that they\u2019re trying to create in people to the thought of political violence is truly pernicious.
