On Sunday, the team hosted its Breakdown Day with reporters, and the players revealed they were dealing with some pretty significant injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA broken rib and a little puncture on the lungs,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/player\/viktor-arvidsson\/\" class=\"player\" title=\"View Viktor Arvidsson&#039;s stats, bio, and status\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Viktor Arvidsson<\/a> said, seemingly downplaying the injury. \u201cIt was hard to come back that quickly. It was unfortunate but part of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Swedish forward got hurt in Game 4 and missed Games 5 and 6 against the Sabres. Despite the severity of his injuries, he had hoped to be available if the Bruins could force a Game 7.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just loved the group we had,\u201d Arvidsson said. \u201cWe had so much fun together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/health\/diseases\/15304-collapsed-lung-pneumothorax\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Per the Cleveland Clinic<\/a>, full recovery from a punctured lung typically takes 6 to 8 weeks, though minor cases, like in Arvidsson\u2019s situation, may heal in 1-2 weeks. \u201cStrict rest\u201d is prescribed, usually for the first few days to a couple of weeks, followed by an avoidance of strenuous activity, heavy lifting, and air travel \u2014- AKA everything entailed in an intense Stanley Cup Playoffs series.<\/p>\n<p>Bruins superstar <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/player\/david-pastrnak\/\" class=\"player\" title=\"View David Pastrnak&#039;s stats, bio, and status\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Pastrnak<\/a> dealt with a small groin tear that he originally suffered in November. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did have injury, yeah,\u201d Pastrnak <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jvT3oLIYNNg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>. \u201cI think it was just a little groin. I don\u2019t know what you call it, tear or torn. I don\u2019t know the difference. I had this thing in November and it came back a little earlier. Battled mentally a lot with that as a player because we just tried remember that pain for a while when that happened. Struggled with that for a little bit but I would say for past month, last month, I was much better mentally with the skating and more confident. It was only thing. Throughout the playoffs, I say I was healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pastrnak suited up in 77 games during the regular season, posting 100 or more points for the fourth-straight season. Pastrnak had the third-most goals on the Bruins (29) and led the team in assists (71) during the regular season. I got some MRIs \u2026 I gotta see what kinda dental work I have planned\u2026 Some makeovers this summer. Hopefully, I\u2019ll be a little more whole.<\/p>\n<p>Bruins defenseman <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/player\/hampus-lindholm\/\" class=\"player\" title=\"View Hampus Lindholm#039;s stats, bio, and status\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hampus Lindholm<\/a> played through a fractured foot during the back half of the season. Though Lindholm was encouraged he played in 67 regular-season games and every game of the postseason during the 2025-26 campaign after dealing with two major knee injuries and only appearing in just 17 games the year before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, it was hard last [season] being sidelined with two major knee surgeries,\u201d Lindholm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3fBRpyrhGxs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>. \u201cPut in a lot of work in the summer to really get back to the level that I hold myself to. Had some bumps and bruises (this year). Had a little small fracture on my foot there around Christmas that\u2019s been a little something that\u2019s nagging me a little bit, but it\u2019s starting to heal back now, so I can get back to that final process of hopefully have a full summer of training normally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bruins forward <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/player\/elias-lindholm\/\" class=\"player\" title=\"View Elias Lindholm&#039;s stats, bio, and status\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elias Lindholm<\/a> was in the second year of dealing with a back injury he initially suffered during the offseason he signed with the Bruins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing over there (to the Milan-Cortina Olympics), my body was not great, but I battled through,\u201d Lindholm, who suited up for Team Sweden, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lXGdo49cmUA\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>. \u201cI came back (to the Bruins) and you know, kinda kept grinding and couldn\u2019t find the confidence or stuff like that to play my game. It was tough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lindholm got at least one back injection during the season, including one before heading to Italy in February. When asked if he ever felt 100 percent this season, Lindholm laughed and said, \u201cEarly on, yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While those injuries are eyebrow-raising, <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/player\/nikita-zadorov\/\" class=\"player\" title=\"View Nikita Zadorov&#039;s stats, bio, and status\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nikita Zadorov<\/a> takes the, uh, \u201cget well soon-themed\u201d cake. The Bruins defenseman revealed that he played with a fully torn MCL, detached from the bone, for the final four games of the playoff series. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI torn my MCL in Game 3, fully torn off the bone, so I played with it a little bit,\u201d Zadorov said <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NESN\/status\/2050419645568466947\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">per NESN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, he did. Zadorov averaged over 20 minutes of ice time per game and registered 17 hits and 37 penalty minutes in the series. <\/p>\n<p>While the knee injury will impact his off-season training, it\u2019s believed Zadorov will be fully healthy for the start of the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a warrior,\u201d Bruins head coach Marco Sturm <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bridgetteproulx\/status\/2050963248921428470\" rel=\"nofollow\">said<\/a>. \u201cHearing it from the medical department, they had never seen anything like it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Boston Globe\u2019s Amalie Benjamin noted that none of the players used the injuries as excuses for their performance.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Just a small clarification on what happens on break-up days across the NHL. <\/p>\n<p>The media asks players what their health status is on every team after every playoff series.
