The Texas Rangers scored two runs while the New York Yankees scored zero runs.<\/p>\n
For a while there, I thought Nu LSB was cursed. After all, seven of the first eight innings for the Rangers had opportunities with runners in scoring position and it took until a bases loaded 10-pitch two-RBI hit from big Rowdy Tellez to finally get the Rangers on the board in the bottom of the eighth in a 0-0 game.<\/p>\n
By that point in the evening, the Rangers had been 0-for-13 in RISP situations and had left eight on base. They finished the night 1-for-16 with 10 stranded. But all the needed was that one. It was maddening and it felt like they were in danger of as deflating a contest as they could muster after last night\u2019s miraculous win. But all the needed was that one.<\/p>\n
But thanks to the Rangers\u2019 found fat first baseman, they got on the board in the nick of time and have now inched to within half a game of the Yankees for a Wild Card spot in the American League.<\/p>\n
Player of the Game: Nathan Eovaldi is something special. The current American League Pitcher of the Month lowered his season ERA to an absurd 1.38 on the season and it\u2019s nearly a week into August. What\u2019s he\u2019s doing is legendary.<\/p>\n
Eovaldi allowed just one hit in eight shutout innings. He walked no one. He struck out six. He dominated. And thankfully, because of Tellez\u2019s RBI poke, he was a winner tonight too. It\u2019s his tenth win of the season.<\/p>\n
What an absolute killer outing from the most impactful pitcher for the Rangers this century.<\/p>\n
Bonus round: The Yankees woke up Joc. After last night\u2019s ninth inning game-tying dong, Pederson went 2-for-2 with two walks, reaching in each plate appearance and even scoring Texas\u2019 insurance run in the eighth.<\/p>\n
