CBS is making some big moves for next season. Four of the network\u2019s biggest dramas will have shortened seasons during the 2026-27 season to make room for more programming.<\/p>\n

According to Deadline<\/a>, Fire Country<\/a> and Matlock<\/a> will have 13-episode seasons, and NCIS: Origins<\/a> and NCIS: Sydney<\/a> will have 10-episode seasons.<\/p>\n

The NCIS programs will share the Tuesday night 10pm slot. Matlock will return at midseason, and Fire Country will remain on Friday nights.<\/p>\n

CBS<\/a> released no statement about the episode orders for next season. The following was revealed about the rest of CBS\u2019 lineup:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe episode count reductions are understandable given the size of CBS\u2019 scripted roster for next season. While most broadcast networks are largely keeping the volume of scripted series consistent year-to-year amid ongoing broadcast business challenges in the streaming era, CBS is going for a sizable increase in 2026-27.<\/p>\n

With the majority of its current slate performing well, the network is not bringing back only one drama,\u00a0Watson,\u00a0and two comedy series,\u00a0The Neighborhood\u00a0and\u00a0DMV.\u00a0At the same time, CBS is adding three new drama series,\u00a0Cupertino<\/a>, Einstein<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0NCIS: New York<\/a>, and one comedy series,\u00a0Eternally Yours. Cupertino\u00a0and\u00a0NCIS: New York,\u00a0which are on the fall schedule, will produce a full-season load of 20 episodes each;\u00a0Einstein,\u00a0which will debut in midseason, has a 13-episode order.\u201d<\/p>\n

Premiere dates for CBS\u2019 fall lineup will be announced later.<\/p>\n
