After Sunday’s Game 7 ended as a one-goal game, the two teams completed the third series in Stanley Cup history in which all seven games were decided by just one goal.

It wasn’t the best offensive performance from Montreal, as it finished with just nine shots, but it was enough to get the job done thanks to a tremendous performance from Jakub Dobes in goal.

The Canadiens scored in the first period thanks to a shot by Nick Suzuki that was assisted by Kaiden Guhle and Josh Anderson, but Dominic James responded in the second to tie things up.

After Montreal went without a single shot in the second period, it finally got the go-ahead goal in the third, courtesy of Alex Newhook.

The goal from Newhook proved to be the decider as Tampa Bay couldn’t answer, and the Habs will now get a second-round matchup against the Buffalo Sabres.

The second game of the night made up for the lack of offense in the first contest.
