Plan d’action 2025-2026 des services publics d’emploi<\/a>, released last week, sets priorities for Service Qu\u00e9bec and outlines which populations will be considered priority clientele for employment services providers. It presents itself as a strategy to build a strong and inclusive economy by supporting those most marginalized from the labour market.<\/p>\n\u201cQu\u00e9bec\u2019s English speakers make up 14.9% of Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s total population, yet represent nearly a quarter of those who are unemployed. Without a plan, MESS’s strategy will continue to leave our community marginalized and without adequate resources,\u201d continued Salter.<\/p>\n
PERT is calling for targeted employment measures for Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s English speakers, which pair a for-us-by-us employment services model with French-language training opportunities.<\/p>\n
PERT\u2019s position is that the current situation underscores the need for targeted action, not continued exclusion.<\/p>\n
\u201cAdapted employment services for Qu\u00e9bec`s English speakers will help us grow our economy at a critical time AND help promote the French-language. It\u2019s really a win-win for Qu\u00e9bec. The repeated omission of our community from employment plans is a huge missed opportunity to unlock the full productivity of Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s labour market,\u201d concluded Salter.<\/p>\n
