The Missouri State Capitol dome will be lit green overnight Wednesday to recognize mental health awareness, Gov. Mike Kehoe announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The dome will be green starting at sunset Wednesday until Thursday at sunrise, according to a news release from the governor’s\u00a0office.<\/p>\n
The lighting is to recognize\u00a0Mental Health Awareness Month, which takes place in May.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery Missourian deserves to live in a community that supports mental well\u2011being and promotes understanding, hope, and connection,\u201d\u00a0Kehoe said in the release. “Mental Health Awareness Month reminds us of our shared responsibility to foster supportive environments, reduce stigma and ensure access to care for all Missourians.”<\/p>\n
The lighting also recognizes May 3-9 as Children’s Mental Health Week.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis lighting serves as a powerful reminder of our shared commitment to supporting the mental health and well\u2011being of Missourians,\u201d Valerie Huhn, director of the Missouri Department of\u00a0Mental Health, said in the news release.<\/p>\n
Activities\u00a0across Missouri recognizing Children’s Mental Health Week\u00a0will also take place, according to the release.
