{"id":625843,"date":"2026-05-06T00:40:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T00:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/625843\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T00:40:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T00:40:13","slug":"new-video-shows-united-plane-clipping-truck-at-newark-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/625843\/","title":{"rendered":"New video shows United plane clipping truck at Newark airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Newly-released camera footage gives the clearest view yet of the packed United jet that<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/04\/us-news\/crazy-video-captures-moment-plane-landing-at-newark-strikes-bakery-truck\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> walloped a bakery truck<\/a> while landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, injuring the driver.<\/p>\n<p>The footage shows United 169 coming in low over the New Jersey Turnpike, where its landing gear appears to crash into the top of a tractor-trailer, according to the video<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/OneJerseySchorr\/status\/2051725510871289895?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\"> shared on X.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The blow appears to have shoved the trailer into a concrete barrier; the plane also struck a lamp pole.<\/p>\n<p>United 169 moments before hitting a tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike<\/p>\n<p>Footage from a dash cam inside the cab shows the hapless driver rocking as if in an earthquake.<\/p>\n<p>The driver survived the terrifying ordeal with minimal injuries, and none of the 231 people aboard the plane was hurt.<\/p>\n<p>United 169 had been attempting a visual landing on Runway 29 \u2014 a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/04\/us-news\/newark-airport-route-where-united-plane-crashed-into-truck-is-notoriously-dangerous-expert\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">notoriously challenging approach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The maneuver \u2014 a \u201cvisual\u201d approach in which pilots guide the plane by sight \u2014 is infamous for its short runway, nonstandard guidance lights, cross-traffic with other runways, crosswinds, and other tricky features, said Eric Wydra, director of the University of Oklahoma School of Aviation.<\/p>\n<p>View from inside the truck, which belongs to H&amp;S Bakery in Baltimore.
