BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – A new piece of public art is now on display in downtown Bowling Green.<\/p>\n
Longtime community leaders Johnny and Glenna Webb donated a 12-foot stainless steel sculpture, \u201cHome Is Where My Heart Is,\u201d which has been installed in Circus Square. The Webbs said the piece is meant as a lasting tribute to the people and spirit of Bowling Green and Warren County.<\/p>\n
The base includes an inscription dedicating the sculpture to the community and notes the couple\u2019s travels to every Kentucky county and every U.S. state.<\/p>\n
Johnny Webb is a former Bowling Green mayor and a longtime leader of Operation PRIDE, an organization focused on community pride and beautification efforts. Among his visible contributions are the flag installations at entrances to the city.<\/p>\n
The sculpture was fabricated by Bohl Iron Works, a custom metal fabrication company operated by brothers Brad and Corey Bohl. The company has produced large-scale public art and civic installations in multiple states and internationally, according to the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center.<\/p>\n
Retired Warren County Judge-Executive Mike Buchanan, a SKYPAC board member and chair of its Public Art Committee, praised the Webbs\u2019 donation and said public art helps strengthen a community\u2019s sense of place.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis remarkable gift reflects the values that define Bowling Green \u2014 pride in our community, gratitude for our neighbors, and a belief in leaving something meaningful for future generations,\u201d Buchanan said.<\/p>\n
Jeff Reed, SKYPAC\u2019s president and CEO, also thanked the Webbs, the city of Bowling Green and several partners for assisting with the installation, including Kevin Kirby, who helped provide and coordinate the granite base stone, and crews who assisted with equipment and placement.<\/p>\n
The installation adds to a growing collection of public art in downtown Bowling Green, an effort supported in part by SKYPAC.<\/p>\n
