Savannah Guthrie’s latest “Today” show exit quickly turned into a viewer-watch moment online. The NBC anchor reportedly left the May 6 broadcast midway, with Craig Melvin later saying she “had to leave a little early.” The brief absence sparked chatter because it followed another mid-show switch in April. As per an X post shared on May 6, 2026, a user wrote that Savannah Guthrie did leave the set early. The post said, “It’s true, Savannah Guthrie, the daughter of missing Nancy Guthrie, did leave the set early today.” However, it framed the viral interest around public concern, not confirmed emergency details. The user added, “everyone is always hoping there’s news about Nancy.” The same post also referenced the earlier April clip. It said, “Last time this happened the video below got over 1.5 million views.”

Meanwhile, the “Today” show moment gained attention because Craig Melvin reportedly addressed the exit on air. He told viewers that the host “had to leave a little early.” He also said, “She’ll be right back tomorrow.” That detail kept the story from becoming a confirmed crisis. Still, viewers remembered the April 15 broadcast, when Guthrie teased an Anne Hathaway segment. After the commercial break, Hoda Kotb continued the interview instead. Later reports said such handoffs can happen in normal broadcast flow.

Still, the online reaction was split. One X user wrote, “I was watching it I didn’t see her leave of course.” The same account added they were “back and forth between stations.” The user pushed back on the family speculation, saying, “Couldn’t had nothing to do with her mom.” The comment added that Guthrie “certainly wouldn’t have left work for that.” For now, NBC has not offered a fuller public explanation. The Today show exit mainly showed how closely viewers now track Guthrie’s on-air movements.

The post Savannah Guthrie’s Abrupt Today Show Exit Sparks Major Buzz appeared first on Reality Tea.

Savannah Guthrie’s latest “Today” show exit quickly turned into a viewer-watch moment online.
