Tottenham striker Will Lankshear suffered relegation with Oxford United but had a big season in terms of his development<\/p>\n

Tottenham striker Will Lankshear says he will always be “a yellow” after his “unforgettable” season at Oxford United came to an end.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old striker hit 12 goals for the Championship side despite their struggles which eventually ended in relegation with two games to go. Lankshear<\/a> became a popular figure with the club’s fans thanks to his battling style and finishing, which brought two very different but both spectacular goals in the 4-1 win in their final home game against Sheffield Wednesday that was ultimately not enough to keep United up due to results earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

The young Spurs<\/a> forward, who was joined by Tottenham team-mate Jamie Donley<\/a> at Oxford in the second half of the campaign, took home a double at United’s end of season awards, winning the men’s Golden Boot and the club’s Young Player of the Year award.<\/p>\n

It was a huge developmental loan spell for Lankshear as he played 47 matches with 16 goal involvements and he posted a heartfelt message on social media with a montage of moments across his season.<\/p>\n

“Although it wasn\u2019t the end we all wanted I\u2019d like to thank all the staff, players and fans @oufcofficial you made my time here an unforgettable one. I wish everyone the very best in there futures and I will always keep an eye out for Oxford United in the future. Once a yellow always a yellow Keep fighting,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

Lankshear is set to be a man in demand this season after proving himself with a struggling club in the Championship and the striker will be hoping new Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi<\/a> gives him a chance to show what he can do with the north London club’s first team this summer.<\/p>\n

Oxford United boss Matt Bloomfield has no doubt that the attacker is destined for the very top.<\/p>\n
