(FOX26) \u2014 A bear cub was spotted Thursday morning in northwest Fresno.<\/p>\n<p><p>Bear cub spotted in Fresno neighborhood (Video: Viewer)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Fresno Police Department says the bear cub was spotted in a residential neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple residents in different areas reported seeing the bear.<\/p>\n<p>[RELATED] <a href=\"https:\/\/kmph.com\/news\/local\/fresno-state-affected-by-nationwide-cyber-attack-canvas-sensitive-information-name-government-id-data-country-wide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fresno State affected by nationwide cyber attack<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Viewers reported around 6:00 a.m. they saw the bear on Isla Avenue, near Herndon and West Avenues.<\/p>\n<p>The California Department of Fish and Wildlife responded but could not find the animal.<\/p>\n<p>They stayed in the area for quite a while but left just before 10:00 a.m. due to there not being any more sightings.<\/p>\n<p>They believe it may have gone back to the San Joaquin River.<\/p>\n<p>Councilmember Mike Karbassi released the following statement regarding the sightings:<\/p>\n<p>A brown bear is not the usual visitor I have the pleasure of welcoming to District 2 in Northwest Fresno, but I am immensely grateful to the California Department of Fish &amp; Wildlife for their incredibly rapid response to the area to ensure the bear returned to a more appropriate habitat without causing any harm to residents or property.
