The District Court of Johnson County, Kansas, has dismissed the case against Chiefs defensive backs coach Dave Merritt.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe DA\u2019s office looked at it a little more thoroughly and reviewed some additional information,\u201d Merritt\u2019s attorney, Ryan Ginie, told Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, \u201cand agreed it was a matter that should be dismissed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Merritt was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery on April 22, accused of causing bodily harm to a daughter.<\/p>\n

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said last weekend that the team was waiting on the case to conclude. <\/p>\n

\u201cDave\u2019s been very up front<\/a> with everything,\u201d Reid said, via Ron Kopp of arrowheadpride.com. \u201cWe\u2019re still going through that whole procedure. In this case, you always let the law enforcement part take care of itself and work its way out. And so that\u2019s where we\u2019re at right now, but we\u2019re aware, and we\u2019ve had communication with both sides there, with the law enforcement side and Dave.\u201d<\/p>\n

Merritt, 54, has served as the Chiefs\u2019 defensive backs coach since 2019.
