He pulled out a knife toward responding officers, Savage said.<\/p>\n<p>Savage said the man ignored police commands and entered the store. Arlington police said <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ArlingtonVaPD\/status\/2052931236998345200?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">in a post on social media<\/a> that all customers and employees safely exited the store.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the next several hours, the suspect remained barricaded in the back of the business,\u201d she said, adding that police tried to negotiate with him to exit the store.<\/p>\n<p>While attempting to arrest the man, police said he pulled out a knife around 9 p.m. That\u2019s when two officers fired their weapons, striking him multiple times.<\/p>\n<p>He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
