So, my purpose and my passion for hoops won\u2019t change. And I think that\u2019s how I stay in it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell is coming off a season in which she scored a career-high 20.2 points per game. In fact, she made such an impact on the court that she finished fifth in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wishtv.com\/sports\/indiana-fever\/kelsey-mitchell-wnba-mvp-finalist\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WNBA\u2019s 2025 MVP voting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year was a really growing period for me because it made you vulnerable,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cI had to do a little bit more than I normally would in those conditions. And I think that it kind of made me who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This will be Mitchell\u2019s ninth season with the organization. This past offseason <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wishtv.com\/sports\/indiana-fever\/kelsey-mitchell-fever-finalizing-one-year-1-4-million-supermax-deal-per-reports\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">she signed<\/a> a one-year, supermax contract with the team worth a reported $1.4 million. The deal made her the first player in franchise history to make $1 million in a single season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went from sleeping with somebody in a hotel room to having my (own place),\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cSo those small adjustments and those small changes have impacted me greatly, but in so many positive ways. I\u2019m so grateful that I\u2019m even a part of it really.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As often as fans talk about her stats, her teammates understand just how big of an impact Mitchell makes on and off the court as a leader within the organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Kelsey\u2019s one of the hardest guards in the league to have to guard,\u201d Fever center Aliyah Boston said. \u201cAnd she\u2019s on my squad, so I\u2019m super excited about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the few things Mitchell has yet to achieve is winning a title, something she is focused on in 2026. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully when you see Kelsey Mitchell, I\u2019m giving everything I\u2019ve got,\u201d Mitchell said. <\/p>\n<p>Mitchell and the Fever begin the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. EDT against the Dallas Wings.
