A trans competitor at a California girls\u2019 track meet swept the field in multiple events Saturday while protesters outside demanded biological males<\/a> be barred from competing against girls.<\/p>\n

At the CIF Southern Section<\/a> Division 3 preliminaries held at Yorba Linda High School<\/a>, AB Hernandez, a senior from Jurupa Valley, delivered commanding performances in all three jumping events against female athletes.<\/p>\n

The biggest gap came in the triple jump, where Hernandez posted 42 feet, 4 inches. The nearest competitors finished at 39 feet, 7 1\/2 inches and 37 feet, 8 inches.<\/p>\n

In the long jump, Hernandez recorded 20 feet, 4 1\/4 inches, finishing more than a foot ahead of the second-place mark of 19 feet, 1 1\/2 inches. Third place reached 18 feet, 7 inches.<\/p>\n

Hernandez also tied for first in the high jump after clearing 5 feet, 2 inches alongside Reese Hogan.<\/p>\n

The results immediately reignited outrage from critics who argue biological males possess physical advantages that undermine fairness in girls\u2019 athletics.<\/p>\n

Outside the venue, demonstrators gathered before the meet for a \u201cSave Girls\u2019 Sports\u201d rally led by former NCAA athlete Sophia Lorey.<\/p>\n

One protester angrily accused California Gov. Gavin Newsom of abandoning female athletes<\/a>, shouting that \u201cgirls are being threatened.\u201d<\/p>\n

For many in attendance, the outcome felt familiar.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt happened last year and I thought it\u2019d be done, but it\u2019s California,\u201d one grandparent attending to support Moorpark High School told Outkick<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hernandez has already become a central figure in the escalating national fight over transgender participation in girls\u2019 sports.<\/p>\n

The athlete previously competed in girls\u2019 volleyball and has repeatedly drawn scrutiny after winning girls\u2019 track events.<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s meet marked another high-profile showdown with Hogan, who previously made headlines after stepping onto the top podium spot following<\/a> an event won by Hernandez, a gesture applauded by advocates pushing to reserve women\u2019s sports for biological females.<\/p>\n

The controversy surrounding California\u2019s policies has moved far beyond high school athletics.<\/p>\n

The US Department of Justice is suing California over its transgender athlete rules<\/a>, while the US Department of Education has expanded investigations into multiple California schools and athletic organizations over potential Title IX violations tied to trans athletes competing in women\u2019s sports.<\/p>\n

That federal investigation now includes the California Community College Athletic Association, which oversees 108 athletic programs statewide.<\/p>\n
